Uber Engineering Sofia Supports OpenFest

Uber believes in enabling collaboration for everyone, everywhere through open source. That is why we are excited to share with you that Uber Engineering Sofia is a proud supporter of OpenFest.

Uber started in 2010 to solve a simple problem: how do you get a ride at the push of a button? Headquartered in San Francisco, California for 8 years only, Uber managed to grow massively to 18 000 employees, operating in over 700 cities and having accomplished 10 Billion rides earlier on this year.

And all of that success is powered by a well-established and high-quality engineering team. Interestingly, the engineering site in Bulgaria is one of Uber’s first distributed engineering sites. The team in Sofia focuses on developing systems that provide Uber services with key reporting and compliance capabilities, including generating invoices and email receipts related to trips or food deliveries, assembling periodic tax reports for their partners, and facilitating real-time tax calculation in line with local regulations.

You will have the chance to meet the team at their booth, chat about nerd stuff and get your rubber duck to ensure successful debugging when you need it. Or just a #ubercool t-shirt to show off around. More than this, you’ll be able to learn from the engineering team itself what’s on the agenda for Uber Eng Sofia, who are growing fast and expected to stay on that path for the next few years.

Open positions are available and range from Engineering Managers, through internships, Software and Sr. Software engineers. They are on the lookout for a Senior technical recruiter as well! Check the open positions out here: https://careersinfo.uber.com/sofia-engineering. But don’t miss on the chance to speak to the all-star team at their booth during the weekend.
