OpenFest 2025 builds upon its commitment to the principles of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance). We believe that responsibility towards the community and the planet is ours.
Here are the measures we are taking and how every visitor and volunteer can get involved in creating a more sustainable festival:
1. Environmental Responsibility (E) 🌳
Our goal is to reduce waste and our carbon footprint.
Reducing Plastic (Bring Your Own Container!):
- We encourage everyone—visitors and volunteers—to bring their own reusable containers (bottles, thermoses) for water, coffee, and tea. There will be plenty of refill stations available on-site (provided by Culligan and Kolichka Bar).
- Our water machines are directly connected to the water supply, not using large plastic gallons.
Waste Segregation (Recycling):
- Special containers (for paper, plastic, and mixed waste) are provided to support segregation and help keep the venue clean. Volunteers will be instructed to monitor their correct use.
Eliminating Paper Waste:
- We continue our policy of not including paper leaflets and flyers in the guest and speaker packs.
2. Social Responsibility and Inclusion (S)
Our focus is on People Inclusion, supporting vulnerable groups, and caring for our volunteers.
Charitable Cause (Plastic Caps):
- We will once again have containers for collecting plastic bottle caps for charitable causes. A small gesture, big impact!
Diversity:
- We strive to maintain diversity among the profiles of our speakers and volunteers. We are considering partnerships with organizations that support inclusion.
Reducing Food Waste:
- When planning catering for volunteers and speakers, we aim for precise planning, as well as labeling food for consumption later.
Caring for Convenience:
- We remind everyone to bring chargers/power banks to stay connected and charged throughout the long festival day.
3. Corporate Governance and Transparency
Transparency of Measures:
- Our ESG measures will be announced during the opening and closing of the festival.
Donations:
- A transparent process for donations is ensured, accepting cash (donation box) and card payments (via a separate POS terminal).
