Live streaming and some other technical details

Here are some technical details for this year’s OpenFest:

We’ll have again live streaming, of all rooms, in different formats, which should work on almost all devices you have. More details can be found at the streaming page (also available in the menu on top).
We also will have working wi-fi – an open network called “OpenFest”. Last year it survived an invasion of a ton of devices that were behaving as access points, now we’re waiting for this year’s challenges
For the people who don’t have wireless devices, in the workshop rooms there will be switches that you can connect to.

Fedora booth at OpenFest 2016

At Fedora booth volunteers will be helping people with Fedora installation, distribute Fedora media disks and swag. Also they’ll have a quick look at the features of the upcoming Fedora 22. They’ll promote the contribution towards the Fedora project and the core values of the Fedora community: Freedom, Friends, Features, and First.

They’d love to see you if you have any questions about Fedora, if you’re a Fedora developer, contributor or if you’re just interested in FLOSS in general and would like to know more.

openSUSE at OpenFest 2016

It is our pleasure to announce that at this year’s event the openSUSE Linux distribution will be presented with its own info booth. There you can get information on the distribution itself, its past, present and future, as well as some extra insight on what distinguishes it from other distributions. You’ll also have the opportunity to see it in action on different devices. Last but not least you’ll be able to exchange ideas with other supporters, get help on issues that you may be facing, and have some fun! Your hosts will be Dimitar Zahariev – an openSUSE Advocate – and his team of openSUSE enthusiasts – Roz, Rose, and Rumbata.

Preparations for the program of OpenFest 2016

As in previous years, the program of OpenFest will be prepared by the program committee. To make their work easier, we’re gathering your feedback what’s interesting and what you want to see, at vote.openfest.org.

The results from this vote will be taken into account while putting together the program, including the conflicts (e.g. if the same group of people has voted for the same talks, they will no be at the same time).

As you have probably guessed, there will be OpenFest this year, too

The place is the same – “Bulgaria” hall, the dates are the 5th and 6th of November, and if you want to join with a workshop or a talk, follow the news on our site and the OpenFest profiles in the social networks – Twitter and Facebook.

If this is the first time you’re hearing about OpenFest or if you have missed the last one – take a look at the last year

If you have an idea about an interesting speaker that you want to see, please mail us at program@openfest.org with the name and any information that could be useful – what does he/she do, what organization does he/she represents and if you have any personal contacts.

This year we again expect more than 3000 visitors in the days of the event, from Bulgaria and neighbouring countries. If you want to support the fourteenth edition of OpenFest by being sponsors, please email yana@openfest.org, so we can send you more information about our sponsorship packages.
